Summer Toddler Program Ages 2-3.5
Experience a fun loving version of introductory ballet for even the tiniest tutu fanatics. Instructor and owner of Main Street Dance Theatre, Dana Sorg, has created a dynamic program which allows for coordination and creativity to blossom while parents either join in or watch from the sides!
In class we will begin with coloring on the floor with chalk which allows for time to become accustomed to their dance surroundings, then we will warm up with basic body movements while exploring creative dance with a foundation of Ballet and Jazz. Next , we travel around the room using different coordinated steps, learn how to wait for our dance friends, and introduce dance vocabulary. Lots of props like sparkle wands, scarves, stuffed animals and hula hoops are used throughout class and we also play freeze dance where dancers improvise their own movements while practicing our learned steps and vocabulary. Also don’t miss our parachute play. Each Session holds a class that meets once per week where students will be instructed in a class geared toward their technical ability. Our curriculum grows with your child as they make leaps and bounds. So come have fun and invite all of your playmates to come dance too!
There is also the opportunity to Perform Sweet Pea weekend & Walk in the Parade!
Registration begins in April and continues throughout the summer months. There are no tuition refunds however one make-up class per session is available for your usage should a class be missed due to absence.
Attire for all
In the summer, young dancers may wear whatever is comfortable; loose clothing, leotard and tights, tutu or dancing pants are all acceptable! For their feet, they can go with bare feet or ballet shoes, which can be purchased at Target and Wal-mart. Older dancers may adhere to the regular class attire requirements.
